Hamed Behdad wins Best Actor award at Canadian filmfest

Iran's Hamed Behdad wins Best Actor award at the CineIran Festival in Canada.

Iran's Hamed Behdad has won the Best Actor award at the 2018 edition of the CineIran Festival in Canada.

Behdad was announced as the winner of the Best Actor award during the closing ceremony of the 4th CineIran Festival for his performance in the movie 'Sly'.

Behdad was born on November 17, 1973, in the holy city of Mashhad. He studied Theatre at the Islamic Azad University.

He made his film debut in 2000 with the lead role in 'End Game', a role that won him a nomination for a Best Actor Crystal Simorgh at the 19th Fajr International Film Festival.

Behdad subsequently appeared in several movies, mostly taking supporting roles, but his outstanding performances won him several awards and nominations at different film festivals.

In 2010, Behdad finally won his first Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Masoud Kimiayi’s 'Crime'.

His latest comic movie 'Sly', directed by Kamal Tabrizi, is expected to be screened at Iranian movie theaters next month. Vishka Asayesh, Mani Haqiqi and Azadeh Samadi have also appeared in the film.

Hediyeh Tehrani received the Best Actress award at the festival for her role in Arash Lahouti's feature film 'Orange Days'.

The CineIran, a partner festival of Toronto International Film Festival, aims to bring the most acclaimed Iranian films of the year to Toronto's screens in an effort to present a comprehensive cross-section and showcase the depth and diversity of this national cinema, according the website of the event.

The latest edition of the event took place on November 16-18, 2018, in Toronto.
